I do not think a few bass traps will help your severe room modes problem a lot. A BASS ABSORVING WALL will be need, which is made by stacking cardbord boxes or thin plywood boxes filled with condenced sound absorving material such as glass wool. The boxes will conver all the surface of one of the walls. At least 50cm depth is desirable.
