Islander,This is just a wild guess.....
It might be the output muting transistors in the CD. I had a similar experience w/ my CDP, each time it changed tracks or stopped there was a loud "POP". I sent it out to have it fixed, now, silence between tracks. However, some inmates feel that muting transistors degrade the overall fidelity of any CDP using them (which is most CDPs under $1000)and remove the transistors, choosing to live w/ the "POP". Good luck w/ solving your problem.
