Capacitor + or - I need help !!

I am building Audio Electronics AE-3 preamp kit - everything going along OK .. I am at the point of putting the capacitors in. On the parts diagram they show some polarized capacitors with a + and - side BUT the capacitor itself only shows direction flow of current with an arrow - IT IS NOT LABELLED + and - My feeling is that the direction flow of current is from NEGATIVE to POSITIVE ( one side of the cap is BLACK {negative ??} and the arrow points to the other side of the cap which is shiny metal {positive??} Am I correct here??
I am more of an audiophile, I guess, than a techie - thanks in advance for any help you can give to me ..
