From what I understand, the coins (BTW they call it the $1.20 tweak and involves 2 quarters and a dime/speaker--2 quarters on the front end and the dime at the back in the middle) are supposed to break up the cabinet resonances thereby helping to diffuse the harmonics and make the fundamentals less prominent. Does it work? Well...maybe. I've played around with it quite a bit and sometimes I think I can hear it, other times I don't think I can. I definitely can't hear it on rock recordings but sometimes I think I can with well-recorded acoustic pieces.
