Bill,I have not tried any other specific room treatments.
My previous music room was damped by heavy curtains, wall to wall carpet and soft furnishings - this tended to produce a very damped, dull sound. My present room (rectangular - 20x13x11 ft) has no curtains a large rug and typical lounge furnishings. The walls are plaster, the floor timber and the ceiling has framed inlaid wood panels.
This present room, untreated, is probably too 'live' but produces a more detailed and exciting sound than the first. As such I was wary about adding absorptive treatment in case it reduced the rooms positive qualities - I may still experiment. The problem with wall treatments vs the Roomlens is they lack the ease of placement and adjustment. Roomlenses are very easy to rough into position and experiment with.
Then there is aesthetics. Most effective wall treatments tend to be bulky with low WAF. The Roomlenses are tall (mine are over 6ft) but they have a kind of modern sculpture look that most people dont find objectionable. And they can be quickly removed if needed.
This aesthetic issue may not matter to you since you state that you have a dedicated room. You might have a look at www.decware.com, which gives treatments for dedicated rooms.By all means experiment, after all, every room is different - I'll be interested to hear your results.
