Oh, I didnt mention that I'm using 6.5" thick fiberglass. Perhaps I'm not following your directions properly, but here's what I've done so far:built 4 wooden frames, each 12" x 36". to each of these, I have attached a 3" x 12" x 36" panel of rock wool. on top of them, i was going to attach a 12" x 36" layer of 6.5" fiberglass foam. then, i was going to wrap the whole setup with poly batting followed by burlap, stapling those layers to the backs of the wooden frames.
so, my numbers were a little exaggerated... if the burlap is pulled tight, it should compress the fiberglass by a couple of inches I assume.
do your directions call for using the rock wool in some way other than as a complete layer under the fiberglass? I think I've built the frame a little differently than your directions suggest, too. rather than surrounding the fiberglass, I'm just using the frame as a backing to hold the rock wool, and the fiberglass is then attached to the rockwool, and everything is held together by a tight covering of burlap.
am i off track?
thanks!
jon
