Re: stone age

I've been hearing these air cushion, MDF, marble, etc, for long but never got to try them since all my components are sitting on stand already and with BDR cones under some of them.

I recently visited the local Home Depot and decided to try them just for fun. After a 30 minutes long waiting for someone to help me cutting the MDF sheet, I gave it up and went to the "tile" section. I knocked on all of them and eventually picked up several pieces of the 'dullest-sounding' 12" x 12" (1 cm thickness) greenish marble which happen to be the exact size for my CDP/DAC, preamp and power amps. I then picked up some 12" inner tubes at bicycle shop. All of these cost less than $25 total (air is free).

Most of my audio components are now sitting on top of those dull-sounding marble with inner tubes (barely visible and with the right degree of inflation) underneath. Honestly, I still can't quite believe the improvement I've heard for so little.

Now the bugs are biting hard and I can't wait to try out some MDF or plywood.
