It is true that the amplfication you have is not the best. A different amplifier combination will improve the midrange quite a bit. Offerings from Creek or Musical Fidelity would help quite a bit. But if you want a magical midrange I still believe tubes are the best option. Other things you can do to help your speakers out is to use a small spiked stand that helps tilt the speaker back a bit. The spikes will also tighten the bass up more, and help clear up the midrange some. Also if you are so inclined, there are many people happy with the CAT 5 speaker cable DIY project. It is not too expensive, a bit time consuming though, and everyone seems to be happy with the results. These are just a few things you can do.

Cerwin Vegas dont need a ton of power. Matter of fact there are a group of us "tubeheads" who like single ended triode amps. Usually these amps are between 3 and 12 wpc. And actually the Cerwin Vegas would sound the best with these kind of amps. I know this is off the standard path for most audio guys....but if you ever get a chance to listen to a SET amp, do yourself a favor and do it. You may never get back to the 1oo wpc crowd. I know I wont.
