The tolerance is a major part of my concern. Then again, if I can find LDRs cheap, I'll probably buy a dozen or so to get a matched pair - like what I do for transistors... If I do get around to build a prototype, I'll do an AB comparison with normal pots and report the results.I'm not sure how the LDRs repond to LED brightness (current), but getting the complete attenuator to respond in log taper shouldn't be too difficult.
I'll try the dallas pots when I have time....
