I would certainly let the things burn in for a while before getting too worked up.
I wasn't a big one for break in on cables, but I put 4 Synergistic Research A/C Master Couplers in last year at the same time and at first they were a definite improvement. But a few weeks later, I could tell the very day when everything grooved out and gave me more of what I had expected.
Definitely be patient, and you might get surprised.
