You need a solder connection on the inside of the speaker. The choice of wire is moot unless you upgrade the AWG as well. The choice of wire should depend on your needs for sound quality. If you feel the Paradigm is on the bright side of neutral after the addition of the copper binding post go with copper of the same AWG as used inside speaker. If you need to warm the bass up a bit for personal taste increase the bass wire by one AWG size. I would stick with the same AWG as inside the speaker. There are a few good OEM wires which sound very nice inside speakers. Straight Wire makes a good wire, Nirvana Audio makes a very nice sounding wire and Discovery Cable has a good sounding OEM wire. The stuff you have inside the speaker now isn't that bad sounding.
BTW, how did you break the binding post??? I've been there myself with my Eclipse BP. After breaking two posts I decided to make the move to upgrade to the WBT Topline and never had a problem since. Had the same problem with my Parasound. Once I upgraded never had another problem knock on wood:-)
