Okay. You've made it clear that you wanted to keep it simple. However, taking a quick measurement here and there is not going to give you a true and informative picture of voltage dips and peaks. I have the meter with PC interface I recommended, which is not at all difficult to use. I have recorded dips and peaks lasting from one second to as much as several minutes during periods lasting from a few to as much as 24 hours. It would be sheer coincidence or luck for you to capture similar variances by only taking quick measurements.
