I hope you have an Aureal A3D 2.0 sound card! Because Half-Life is definitely an audio related subject with 3D sound taken into account!I got the best 3D audio effect out of the game when using desktop speakers (Altec Lansing ACS48 sat/sub) on the primary speakers and headphones on the secondary output. I made sure I engaged the right HRTF filters. Surprisingly I think I got more convincing 3D sound out of cheap Aiwa on-ear headphones than through my Sennheiser 580's (circumaural design). A3D 2.0 is pretty amazing stuff--it's really a shame the market isn't ready for it yet.
