Re: excessive highs

-You didn't mention what your previous speakers were. My advice would be to listen to the Dynaudios for a couple of weeks before you try doing anything to modify them. Is the speaker producing excessive treble or was your old speaker rolled-off in the upper frequencies and that is what you're used to hearing so the Dynaudio's SEEM thin in comparison. Dynaudio makes some great detailed sounding tweeters that can sound very different from a generic low or mid-fi tweeter.

The human ear/brain can get very used to a certain sound and frequency response curve. A good example is my friend that listens to his car stereo with the graphic equalizer set to a "smiley face" pattern (bass and treble boosted). Every time he hears my stereo ( which is relatively flat to 20-25hz w/ subwoofer ) he comments on it's "lack of bass".

If you're used to a different speaker give the new ones a chance before deciding to "throw them out".
