There are a number of good sources for DIY speakers, you've already found two of the best. The tough part is finding cabinets that are the correct volume for the woofer to operate correctly (ie decent bass output). Madisound has sev. diff kits that fit your budget and the cabs are correctly sized. Zalytron has sev Focal based kits in the same general catagory and budget. It's difficult to make any definitive recommendation, you're the best judge of what you like in sound. At least w/ DIY you can tweak 'em to get the sound you like. Good luck on your project.PS
