Don't see the point in using HEXFRED!

203.198.103.130

After some research, I come to the conclusion that the use of HEXFRED or Harris fast recovery diode in place of the normal bridge rectifier is NOT necessary.

why? Because we are using them for the "soft recovery" feature, not the "fast recovery" feature.

If we use schottky diode, which does NOT have any reverse currnt/voltage, therefore it is much better than the HEXFRED or Harris fast recovery diode which has soft reverse current/voltage.

In other words, why settle for a soft reverse current/voltage when you can have ZERO reverse current/voltage?

If you conclude otherwise, please let us know the reason.

many Thanks

Pat

P.S. Of course if you are using tube amp which needs very high voltage (>200V), then it is more proper to use Hexfred because schottky diode usually doesn't come in such high voltage.
