As I understand it acoustic-ceiling tiles will only absorb from approximately sixty cycles and up (read pass frequencies through it) anything below that won‘t even see the other side of the tile, fiberglass sound like a great material. There’s a new glass on the market that is spun and doesn't get all over you and your respiratory system (Owens). Be sure you do mechanically attach the tiles to the beams, dropped ceilings make to much noise (rattle). Sounds like a great project though.
