My Naim Nait 3 has two bridge rectifiers which I want to upgrade.The big one marked "BR62 A32" and I think is from IR.
The small one marked "w40".
1. Can someone kindly tell me the spec (V and A) of these rectifiers, so I can find replacements for them. The smoothing cap is rated 40V, so the rectifiers won't be very high voltage.
2. What shall i relace them with? the following are different options:
a. just add caps across the existing bridge rectifier;
b. replace them with HEXFRED diodes;
c. Replace them with Harris Hyperfast; or
d. use schottky diodes with caps across them.Please advice which option is the best one.
3. I read on this forum that HEXFRED is not very good for low voltage application, it's better for tube amps, is this ture?
4. If use Harris Hyperfast, which one should I use? the RUR or RHR series? Are they soft recovery ones?
5. If use schottky diodes, what spec should I use?
6. What cap should I use for the by-pass?
Many thanks.
Pat
