In case you've missed the previous posts,
the First Annual Asylathon is under way.
July 2000
Dear Friends of the Asylum,
So far, 73 of the 1,738 registered inmates have
made a contribution to the First Annual Asyla-Thon.
That's about four percent of total inmate population. Over the next couple of weeks, we hope to see this
grow to 10% of the total inmate poulation.
It's easy to set aside our calls for support. You may be
thinking that the request is really intended for someone else ... like sponsors, or people who give big gifts.
Not!
Think about it for a moment ...if half of the 1,700+
inmates were to respond by providing a gift at the
Outpatient Level, it would bring us very close to the
goal and make a huge difference in our ability to
continue to make the Asylum the vibrant place that it
is. Of course, larger gifts are nice and get us
there more quickly;-)
When one considers the projected maintenance and
development goals of the Asylum, it's clear that
the Asylum needs broad-based support. Look here to
learn more about the needs of the Asylum and the
Asyla-Thon Annual Campaign. in general.
If you're reading this, you use it.
You know the value of it.
You know what your contribution would mean to its longevity.
Don't forget, there are extremely cool
THANK YOU gifts at all contribution levels.
So, if it's the right thing to do, print out this
post and put it with your monthly bills; when you
start writing checks for rent, phone, etc., write
one more for the Asylum, even if it's just a small one.

Donations to AA are not tax-deductible as a contribution
to charity. We are not a registered 501(c)(3).
We really see this campaign as a way for participants
to support something that they value. As members of
the AA community, we hope you'll support that which
you use. Think of the Asylum as an interactive PBS ;-)
sort of thing. We trust that the rather high value of
the THANK YOU! gifts makes up for any tax concerns.
For those looking for a deduction, there are plenty
of needy, bona-fide charities out there and we encourage
you to give all you can to such worthy causes.
