I agree that:
the amp circiut will be much better with low value inductor and VERY low DCR. No coil at all is going too far.My experience (and we made 30 filters already) is that Jons inductors are too big in terms of inductance. But believe me - the RFI will be attenuated even by a two twist inductor.
In my measurements, my finger type ferrite core needed 36 turns to get 70 uH. The last iteration uses only 6 turns per coil. For large, thirsty amps I would use 2 turns or still 6 turns but air core.
You can increase caps without any harm (even if it is illegal in US)

The hum problems get eliminated in 95 % of cases by using a small toggle to break earth wire.Good luck.
