I saw in some schematics caps in parallel with schottky diodes but some people said this does'nt make any sense making schottky virtue useless it's true ?
Schottky rectifiers should generate less RFI than conventional diodes, or so I was told. I changed the rectifiers in my Hafler SE100
preamp to Schottky devices because I didn't have any soft recovery
rectifiers at the time. I still found evidence of ringing on the
secondary winding which was nicely damped with a snubber consisting of
something like a .47uf and a 100ohm across the secondary. Just a plain cap doesn't work very well and even makes the ringing worse.I don't see how bypassing would otherwise affect any kind of rectifier no matter how fast when it's just rectifying a 60 Hz sine
wave. Speed isn't the point here, in fact, it's part of the problem.
