DIY Speaker Project

62.188.13.99

My brother asked me to build him a set of speakers (my first speaker project). I would like a sensitivity>93db, slightly warm and unfatiguing sound, good with vocals but it should also rock. I did a bit of research on the web and restricted the options available:

MTM Configuration
Floorstanding cabinet (Possibly TL loaded???)
Tweeters: Raven1, Raven2, Audiom TLR
MidBass: Seas Excel W17EX002, PHL Audio 1230, Focal Audiom 7NV2

I excluded ScanSpeak drivers becouse of their lower sensitivity (I might reconsider them if some of you convinces me that they are "superior" to the alternatives above, in case I might use a 9500/8545 combo). The Ravens are very actractive but I noticed that their use implies some complications in the xover network. The PHL woofers look very promising at 93db 16Ohm, but I did not find much info around. I noticed though that there are a few designs that mate them with Raven2. I noticed that Zalytron sells similar set-ups. They also sell an MTM combination of Triangle and Raven 2.

Any suggestions regarding the drivers/configuration? I did not hear all the drivers and would appreciate some opinion on how they compare with each other.

Thanks a lot
