power to 6550's in parralel?

When looking around in my jolida 502b i noticed that the output from the power transformer goes to one tube and then another, IE connected in series.
Is it true that more current would be available to the second tube if they were connected in parralel? Is there any reason why i cant run 2 wires in parralel to the tubes?
