This may be a dumb idea. Choose your legal cable, install your outlet, and wire it into the breaker. Run it up the stairs etc. to your listening room. It probably won't be *that* much longer than an in-wall run. See how you like it. It would save the electrician's labor cost, and depending how and where you bought the cable, you might even be able to return it if you found no difference. This might only be a valid idea if the labor cost is much more than the cable cost, and you have a tolerant wife. I see your other questions. I'll have to get back to you later - it's almost 12 here and I gotta be up at 4am.
