Re: Question about bass traps. (Mr. Risch?)

The corners are where the most bass modes have a pressure maximum, and where the resistive bass traps will do the most good, and have an almost automatically tuned room damping effect.

The junction of the ceiling and side walls is also pretty good, but then the diffusion capabilities of the reflecting sides are not being put tt as good of a use as in the corners. They can be hung if constructed according to the recipe, as the end caps will be plywood (recommended for hanging purposes) or particle board.

Maximum bass absorption will occur at the pressure maximums, and these occur in the corners, at the walls, and at wall ceiling junctions, etc. The closer to the walls/junctions, the better.

As for the foam triangles, they do work, but the amount of bass damping is only going to be a fraction of that of a reasonably sized resistive bass trap.
