Contact John Hillig at www.musicaldesign.com. He may have a couple options:1. Buy one of his amps with Black Gate's already installed.
2. Send your amp in for modifications. There are lots of standard modifications with many levels of cost and benefit. Where a component is in a circuit makes a huge difference. Signal paths and feedback loops are prime locations for upgrading resistors and capacitors. Bridge rectifier diodes are a great thing to upgrade, though harder in amps. It stuns me that few "high end" manufacturers have caught on to this. The part count is low, typically 4 or 8 parts, and 1-3 amp parts are around $1 each for a grand total of less than one Vishay S102. In an amp, high current XYIS (from Michael Percy) will set you back $6+ each. Then you have to insulate them on heat sinks - dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
I'd ask John if its worth modifying and consider selling it. Despite a glowing review from Stereophile, I thought it pretty nasty. John can probably give you several levels of improvement depending on your budget. You may be better off selling the amp and getting something else before going to his platinum level as the ultimate end product may not justify the ultimate level of modification.
