I am planning to build a MTM floor standing with SS9500 and 8530K00 and your results are most intriguing. What is the size of your speaker? Is it a sealed or ported? Do you know that over damping a ported box will results in lost bass? Check this link out if you are interested-> http://www.geocities.com/kreskovs/John1.htmlAn inmate in the Madisound forum by the name of hifi had design and build a floor standing ported MTM using SS9900 and 8530K00 with excellent results and good bass (almost 30hz). It took him a lot of testing to get the x-over right for 9900 so personally I don't think you should rule out SS yet.
