Be aware that it is a distinct safety hazard and may cause a fire and shock risk. The insulation on cat 5 cable is not intended for a.c. line voltage nor is this construction tested for current capacity or heat tolerance as is required for consumer products line cords as per the national electrical code. Use at your own risk.
