No, I haven't tried it on digital inputs. I tried it on digital output of my CDP (the Radioshack F-connector), and here are my impressions after careful A-B ing.The "cap" does alter the sound, but it's more in the "different" category than "surely better" category. With the cap in, sound IS slightly more smooth on top and smidgen cleaner, ending up with a bit better focused images that are smaller and leaner. This gives the sense of a bit clearer soundstage as well as apparent sense of slightly better top-end extension.
Now the bad news. Without the cap, the sound is fuller, especially in the low-midrange, serving male voices better with more resonant, deeper tone. Sound is just smidgen more fuzzy compared to with the cap, but folks, this is very subtle. There seems to be more apparent quantity of air being moved in the midrange, which I like.
None of the differences noted were earth-shattering and only revealed with careful A-B-A ing but still there nevertheless. In different systems, I COULD imagine I may prefer the sound with the cap, but my system sounds clean and pure enough without the cap, so I'm not using the cap anymore. But do try it on your system since it only costs several dollars...
