If I remove the eddy current brake from my Garrard 301, I'll need to control the turntable speed by varying the frequency. I'm aware of the Galo design from 1986 (recently reprinted in The LP Is Back) and the kit that Bob Duncan sells. There was some discussion of this problem on this board in late December, 1999. Questions were raised about the chip used in the Galo device. Does anyone have experience with these units? Has anyone tried something different that works better? Any advice or cautions would be appreciated.Phil, the state oscillator chip you referred to in your December, 1999 posts... Where could I buy it? Does it work with the Galo schematic?
