I think that actually the triode should be louder than tetrode (tetrode is basically a local feedback). Also bass is better IMHO in triode.
I would leave it as it is and modify elsewhere. Passive XO on a small signal before amps could be relatively easy to do to replace the speaker internal XO or at least a part of it.Lukasz F.
