My old Knewood KA-7100 was visited by lightning, and my tech says it needs an IC chip that can't be purchansed anywhere. I liked the old amp, so I went to a used equipment shop and looked at a nice KA-9100. The owner says he sells them cheap because when the IC's go, the amp is junk. Can't be replaced, he says.
Is this true? Does one have to keep a junkyard full of Kenwood amps for future parts, or is this true of all brands? I kind of like the old stuff.....maybe I'll just change brands.
