Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
I have just completed a 2 way MTM with 5-1/4" drivers. They are stand mounted and the tweeter is 40" off the floor. They are sealed box and are allowed to roll off "naturally". Using a groundplane measurement outdoors the f3 is 85 Hz. I cross these over to a powered 12" sub.I noticed the mid/upper bass seemed to be lacking. Plenty of low bass, but music seems to lack weight and punch. I decided to measure the in-room response and have found a couple of good size dips. Thru placement, I've been able to get a pretty flat in-room response below 100 Hz. The problem is I have a 8-10dB dip between 100 and 200 Hz. Switching the subs polarity has no effect. I assuming that moving the cabinets closer to the floor will help but since it is a MTM I want to maintain the tweeter's at ear level axis.
Any suggestions?
