BTW, if you change the volume pot, buy an audio taper pot (not linear taper). These have a progressive action (aka log taper) in the lower volume settings, meaning that the resistive value of the pot changes very slowly from 7 Pm to around 9-10 PM and changes more drastically after 1 PM. The actual ramp up of the taper depends on the specific brand. I have used Alps 100k and 250 K in a high gain preamp, they are very gradual.
