While I'm not familiar w/ your particular speaker I'll try to help. you mention a 400 Hz buzz from your speaker. Have you made sure that the cable connections are good and tight. My APs have made the same sort of noise before and it was just the cables had loosened.

If the cables are tight then try removing the woofer. You mention leather covering? I assume this is covering the front baffle. If you're worried about goudging it when removing the screws/nuts use a large washer or peice of metal w/ a hole large enough for the screw head to show. that way the tool can't slip off and gouge the leather.

As far as the gasket goes, if you can remove the woofer w/o tearing the gasket you're most likely OK. Otherwise, yes replace the gasket. Good luck on your project, hope you find the source of the noise.
