It is very common for power supply electrolytic capacitors to be bypassed by much smaller film units. Doing this has several benefits. The equivalent series resistance (ESR) and the inductance of a "small" film capacitor are low; while the ESR and inductance of P/S electrolytic capacitors is significant. When a small film capacitor is connected in parallel with a large electrolytic capacitor, both the ESR and the inductance of the combination are less than that of either unit alone. The net result of bypassing 'lytic caps is clearly better sound.
