I've considered isobaric loading (what you are referring to), but it's not what I want. It would allow the use of a much smaller enclosure though, should ALL else fail.

I thought that would actually allow them to acoustically couple better with the floor, improving bass performance. That's something worth investigating.

Although I'm not planning on putting them in the corner, I think some of that can be controlled with proper design, such as low-Q systems. Again, that's something worth investigating!

I've thought of that, but I don't see it as being too much of a problem, because the distances are not that great, and I'm going to use a low crossover frequency (probably 60-70Hz).
