Apparently, even a high power tube for hifi use doesn't get HOT enough to cause the reactions which destroy the arc tubes used in some applications requiring a very high light output, great uniformity AND a controlled spectrum....
I'm NOT going to worry about it any more, though if I DO go tube, I will handle carefully but not in an Obsessive manner...
