Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Hi inmates ,
I've finally retubed my REF 610T . I emailed Jim McShane and his response was not encouraging because of the sheer no. of tubes my amps need , ( 9 matched quartet of KT 120 , a pair of 6550WE , 2 pairs of 6H30 and 2 pits of 6NiP ) he might not be able to provide me the required no.'s because of tube shortage and quality ever since the pandemic started . I inquired from audio research and even if my dealer gave me a discount the price was high . I thought about it for 2 weeks and I decided to get the tubes from ARC . But before I made payment , I emailed Jim again and his reply was positive . He will be able to supply me the required no. but it will take a month to complete the order . I waited then finally the tubes arrived and my tech drop by and installed the tubes let it warmed up for 30 mins and bias . We listened and the amps sounds fantastic . Here is a picture of my tech while he install the new tubes . My hats off to you Jim , you done it again . Thanks very much .
