In my experience, the Ken-Rads have superior clarity, compared to RCA red-base 5691. Those RCA get a lot of adulation for presumed build quality, and that is primarily a visual appeal. They're okay, but not outstanding. For sonics, I'd look elsewhere... To Ken-Rad, Tung-Sol (vintage), Valvo/Hamburg or Philips ECC35.
