I would expect that "matched" means that the output of the triode sections all match within 10% (or better) of one another. If seller won't guaranty this then extra money is wasted IMO. And what about microphonics? Are they tested and selected for low microphonics? Does the extra money get you a no questions asked, money back guaranty? BTW, $280/pair for used tubes is a joke - I don't care what they are. A ridicules asking price. As for "tests new", well that could mean just about anything. But it is less than half the "matched" price. I might be tempted to take a chance on them. Unless you're using these in a phono stage I wouldn't get too hung up on the "matched" thing anyway. And if you are using them in a phono stage, I'd be more concerned about microphonics than how closely matched they are.
