Which 5963?? Hmmm. That date code, XX-XX (year-week), looks most likely to be either a GE or RCA code. AFAIK, GE only made a gray plate type, though there may be two subtle variants, I can't quite recall exactly at the moment. RCA made 2 and 3 mica long black plate types, and long gray plate types with square- and o-shaped getter rings (I don't recally any other types right now).If you've got etched dots under the etched type, the tube is likely a GE. If the tube type is surrounded by an octagon in white/'ish permanent ink/paint silkscreen, the tube is likely an RCA. If the tube type is inside an octagon, both inked/painted with black silkscreen, the tube could be a Tung Sol. If only the tube type is etched into the envelope glass, nothing surrounding it and no etched dots, then the tube could be a Sylvania. I like quite a few of the different 5963s in my system, and I really like the 1950s vintage long gray plate/square getter Sylvanias. I think this tube can really sound great.
