I have some notes on this in one of Tino Zottola's books. Write me at home and I'll relay the info. (I don't want to load down the NG with a lengthy reapir manual chapter.)The first concern I'd have is that EL-34's filaments draw greater current. I know this mod has been done, so I'm guessing the filament windings can handle the current.
