I got the same deal off Ebay as well a few months ago. Overall I agree with you with the exception of them sounding better, to me, with the grills on. I also replaced the caps with better Dayton polys and the teeny choke on the woofer with an larger gauge air core as well (match the DCR of the stock choke). It helped quite a bit as far as overall dynamics are concerned. They have decent woofers if you damp the frame but the tweeter could have been better chosen. The bean counters had their hands all over this one!Out of the box though, they're a great speaker for the price. The image and soundstage is unexpected from such as this and the lowend's not bad either for such a small speaker.
