I've listened to the Mites in two situations. The first was at a store where they were hooked up to inexpensive electronics and placed poorly on a shelf. They sounded bad. Not mediocre, but bad. But this was because of the source material and speaker placement. The second time I heard the Mites they were hooked up to a decent solid-state receiver and sounded much better. On the other hand, they still sounded bass-shy and slightly harsh. I much preferred the Paradigm Reference Studio 20 and the Silverline SR 12, although of course the latter is more expensive. I thought the Totem Arros were also much better, but one would expect so given their price. I can't imagine switching from the Paradigm Reference Studio 20 to the Mite--the Paradigms are much more neutral. If you want to switch to a very compact monitor, the Silverlines are wonderful: much better bass and far smoother highs. So even though I like Totem in general--I've listened to Arros and Forests at length--I can't recommend the Mites.
