I found the same thing about the price of an upgrade. I listened to the B&W CDM1se, Sonus Faber Concertino, Dynaudio Audience 50, Vandersteen 1c, and a few others at around $1000. While I don't have a golden ear, I just didn't hear the improvement that I though I would (or read I would) and these were auditioned with much better electronics than mine. As far as Maggies go, I've heard they need much more room to breathe than I have available. I've been seriously considering that 60 day trial though.I get lost in all the arguing over cables. I suppose it's worth a try, any suggestions on particulars?. I am still experimenting with placement as the room is new to me. As far as stands go, mine aren't terribly heavy or solid. I'll look around and see if I can find some reasonably priced ones.
