Either way, such a competition seems pointless to me.The market is almost flooded with decent sounding speakers selling for around $500 each. Elac, NHT, Monolith, Direct Acoustics come to mind immediately for me, but there certainly are other very good ones to be found with a quick search. I don't think there ever has been so many well engineered speakers available for so little money as there are today.
Less than $1000 a pair for decent sounding speakers though ? This is mostly just asking for too much, for too little. Save up your money for a while nd shoot a little highter...
