very good speakers - damp cloth on the bextrene cones and surrounds is ok. DO NOT try to remove the crud on the tweeter domes - it is a damping compound that has gone 'bad'. remove the tweeter. remove the other 4 screws holding in the dome unit - it comes right off. hold the dome against light and see if you can see through it. if so, the compound has come off in those areas and you can take fabric adhesive (not spray on) and lightly brush it on the dome on both inside and outside surfaces. forget replacing the tweeters - the tw26 used had differing magnet sizes depending on the year made and you will need both and not worth it. you can also disconnect the automatic protection circuitry (apoc) to make the speakers sound much better but that reqires removing the crossover, ramoving a resistor and relay and soldering a jumper. you can also take out about 2/3 of the stuffing in the cabinet (or all of it) to make it sound livelier as well.
