Recently i discovered that having my gear spiked to the concrete subfloor imparted terrible, awful things to my system...awful things that i got used to listening to for 3+ years.Removing the spikes and simply laying the floorstanders on the carpet was a very smart move, the sound really sweetened up to my liking but it also allowed the speakers to rock back & forth easily reducing the pin-point accuracy a bit.
One step forward, 2 steps back in relation to this quirp.
no clue as to why or how, but my guess is that the success of spiking or not with speakers is highly situational.
Now i have OB speakers that simply can't be spiked. But since there's much less vibrations involved its become a non-issue for me...
