I have listened to both of these speakers. IMO, you can do better with the price point you are considering. Although I don't think that a HT application is quite as demanding, being able to use for good 2 channel listening whould be a nice feature. Consider Von Schweikert, Vandersteen, Tyler, and Sonus Faber. If you get to hear some auditions with these I think you will notice a big difference. Be patient.
